WIPO Adds AI-Assisted Patent Search to PATENTSCOPE

WIPO has introduced an AI assistant within PATENTSCOPE that allows users to describe what they are looking for in natural language. The assistant translates those instructions into structured patent search queries that users can refine.

Patent searching is moving from rigid query construction toward intent-driven search. The development reinforces the importance of combining natural-language understanding with structured patent search, semantic analysis and expert validation rather than relying on keywords alone.
