AI Drug Discovery Moves Deeper Into Commercial Licensing

AI drug-discovery company Owkin entered a licensing collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim around its AI research platform and patient-data capabilities.

AI is becoming part of pharmaceutical R&D infrastructure rather than an experimental research tool. That creates IP questions around AI models, computational methods, biomarkers, data processing, discovery workflows, platform technologies, model-assisted discovery and clinical-development applications. The challenge shifts from what was invented to which technology layers create defensible and commercially relevant IP.
